What is a cryptocurrency?

Cryptocurrency is a digital internet open-source currency that relies on asymmetric encryption, thanks to which it is possible to use it to pay for goods/services in a decentralized P2P network. This makes cryptocurrency unique. It’s designed in such a way that nobody, including the author or other individuals, groups or governments can alter, modify, destroy, counterfeit the currency or confiscate accounts, control cash flow or cause inflation. There is not a central point within the network, nor anybody, who could make decisions about the network.
